WACO, Texas (September 20, 2022) – Tue Department of Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation within Baylor University’s nationally ranked Hankamer School of Business was recognized as #4 in the world and #1 in Texas for research productivity by the TCU Global University Entrepreneurship Research Productivity Rankings by the Neely School of Business at TCU.
That Research productivity ranking rank research universities as an indicator of academic innovation based on the number of published research articles in the top 3 journals for entrepreneurship. From 2017 to 2021, the Baylor Entrepreneurship Faculty published 22 articles in the Journal of Business Venturing, Theory and practice of entrepreneurship and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. As the report’s authors explain, “research productivity is an important indicator of whether an entrepreneurship program follows an evidence-based approach and demonstrates thought leadership in the discipline.”
According to Peter Klein, Ph.D., Professor and Chair of Entrepreneurship and The WW Caruth Chair at Baylor, the combination of research, teaching and service is key to the program’s success. It also reinforces the University’s recent rankings as a Research Institution 1 by the Carnegie Classification of Universities.
“Our program integrates cutting-edge academic research on entrepreneurship and innovation with undergraduate and graduate teaching experience and our many outreach and engagement programs to help actual and potential entrepreneurs,” said Klein.
Baylor’s Department of Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation has been dedicated to the study, teaching and practice of creating and developing new businesses for more than four decades and ranks among the top programs in the country while offering a variety of programs across campus. Baylor’s Student in US News Best Colleges 2023 Ranking Entrepreneurship Program moved up #8 nationally and is the highest-ranked program in Texas, ahead of UT-Austin (#9), University of Houston (#12), and TCU (#25). In March, US News Best Graduate School Rankings rated Baylor’s as the Graduate Program (Ph.D.) in entrepreneurship #17 in the nation.
