The voting portal for the 2022 edition of the All-Africa Music Awards (AFFIRM) opened to the public today, Sunday 25 September 2022, to determine the winners of each of the 39 categories.
All African music lovers are invited to vote intensively via the live voting portal on www.AFRIMA.org from today until the day the portal closes on December 10, 2022, on the eve of the award ceremony.
According to Mike Dada, Executive Producer/President of the All-Africa Music Awards:
“The core values of AFRIMA’s FACE IT – equity, authenticity, creativity, excellence, integrity and transparency remain at the heart of our operations.”
The list of nominees includes a total of 382 entries in a total of 39 categories. The nominations, well received around the world, are the result of a rigorous 10-day judging process by the 13-member jury at the All-Africa Music Awards in July.

According to Executive Producer/President of the All-Africa Music Awards, Mr. Mike Dada, the awards organization continues to be the ultimate recognition of African music worldwide and also serves as a muse for other awards organizations across the continent. According to him:
“We do not ignore that there are other award winners who copy our nominations every year.”
“As the ultimate recognition of African music worldwide, we are a source of inspiration for music administrators and music lovers across the industry.”
“AFRIMA continues on the path of celebrating African talent and developing our creative ecosystem, and this year’s edition is a step forward in that direction.”
For her part, the head of culture at the African Union Commission, Ms Angela Martins, encouraged music lovers to vote decisively and objectively. She said:
“We did our part. It’s now up to you fans to decide your winners.”
Keep in mind that these categories are very competitive and based on merit.”

The All Africa Music Awards 2022 will take place from 8th to 11th December 2022. The host country and venue of the Awards will be announced separately on September 30, 2022.
The All-Africa Music Awards ceremony will feature a 4-day party of music, glitz and glamor designed to celebrate Africa, recognize talent and push the economic frontiers of culture and creative industries on the continent.
The event begins with the Welcome Soiree, followed by the AFRIMA Music Village, the Host City Tour, the Africa Music Business Summit and the exclusive party of the nominees, and ends with a Closing Gala, which will be broadcast live to over 84 countries around the world.
In partnership with the African Union Commission, the All-Africa Music Awards is a youth-focused music platform that recognizes and rewards the work and talents of African artists across generations.
The All-Africa Music Awards primarily stimulate conversations among Africans and the rest of the world, particularly on the potential of the creative arts to foster genuine human entrepreneurship and make a significant contribution to social cohesion and sustainable development in Africa .
The program of events is aligned with the AU Agenda 2063, which outlines Aspiration 05 as the development of the arts and culture sector, including its cultural and creative industries, to boost the development of the African economy.
the nominees
This year, the West Africa region has the most All-Africa Music Awards nominations with 134, the East Africa region is second with 69 nominations, the Southern Africa region is right behind with 68 nominations, Central Africa has 52 nominations and the The region North Africa is close behind with 49 nominations.
Costa Titch, the South African pioneer, tops the list this year with six nominations for his 2021 hit “Big Flexa” in the categories Song of the Year, Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Best African Collaboration, Best Artist, Duo or Group in African Electro” and “Best Artist, Duo or Group in Use of African Dance/Choreography”.
Burna Boy, Fireboy DML, Kizz Daniel and Tiwa Savage received four nominations, including the Artist of the Year category.
The list of nominees includes 29 continental award categories and 10 regional award categories for public voting. The remaining category for the Legend Award will be announced during the Gala.
This year, the Best Soundtrack For A Movie, Series Or Documentary Category was reinstated due to the availability of quality submissions. The category was removed last year due to a lack of entries.
