After climbing from 133rd to 127th in Doing Business’s 2020 Building Permits Index, Togo intends to repeat that achievement in the upcoming edition of the global ranking. To this end, it introduced several reforms this year.

In the last two years, Togo’s ranking under the indicator “Getting electricity and water” from Doing Business has steadily improved. Because of this achievement of multiple reforms aimed at making it easier for businesses to access electricity and water, Lomé plans to introduce even more reforms this year to continue its improvements.

Of all the “doing business” indicators, Togo has improved the most in property registration since 2018. After spending years at the bottom of this ranking, the country is now attempting to beat Rwanda, which ranks best in Africa on this index.
