Ganesh Balakrishnan, co-founder of Flatheads Shoes, appeared on the fifth episode of “Shark Tank India” Season 2 to raise funds for his startup.

The investors in the reality TV show realized that Balakrishnan’s startup was in trouble. The company’s funds had dried up, founder Balakrishnan had left, and venture capitalists at the show pointed out that the startup’s 4Ps of marketing (product, price, place, and promotion) were misplaced.

When one of the sharks reminded him of his responsibilities to his family and 10-year-old daughter, the seasoned entrepreneur’s venture with more than 20 years of experience took an unexpected turn.

Despite what happened on the show, Balakrishnan took to LinkedIn to reveal that his 10-year-old daughter wants to be an entrepreneur.

Balakrishnan Jr. started his entrepreneurial journey at the age of 10. He was creating a 2023 calendar with his drawings and taking pre-orders for it. His post read: “He is an artist and is taking pre-orders for his 2023 calendar made with his drawings.”

The proud father went on to share that his daughter was a fan of Lenskart founder Piyush Bansal’s “no-nonsense mentality”. She also said that she admires the cheerfulness and positivity of SUGAR Cosmetics founder Vinta Singh. He wrote in his post: “He is extremely proud that I managed to get offers from both of them.”

Balakrishnan said that while he was dreading the episode airing, he was inundated with messages from people praising his entrepreneurial spirit.

“Breaking on national television isn’t exactly great for one’s confidence. What I definitely didn’t expect was for this episode to be received the way it has, and it’s heartening to see people cheering for the entrepreneur.” Balakrishnan wrote. In his heartwarming post, the founder said that Balakrishnan taught everyone the power of openness, honesty and acceptance. “I often say ‘entrepreneurship is not a straight line’ and when you look back, it’s the biggest failures that are the most rewarding because ‘success builds the ego and failure builds the character’. I know because I’ve been there. Um… not once. But twice… made it big and then lost it all… onwards and upwards.”

Balakrishnan thanked Mittal for offering him the show. “It was genuine and from the heart, and I was very touched by your gesture.
