CGL is the leading provider of solutions for the planning, design, program management and maintenance of justice facilities. We are seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Design Associate I in Baltimore, MD.
position summary
Reports to a Vice President or Senior Vice President. Performs discipline tasks under supervision and takes on more responsibility, working more independently on small projects or aspects of large projects.
Tasks and responsibilities of the project
- design management
- Working under the direction of Executive Design Manager, Design Lead and Project Director
- Work with all DCC team firms and team members including but not limited to: Construction Consultancy Firm, Medical and Behavioral Health Consultancy Firm and Commissioning/Engineering Firm.
- Ensure DCC adheres to the DCC activity plan and aligns with the A/E design activity plan
- Review and recommend approval of DCC invoices
- session management
- Coordinate and attend all weekly architecture/engineering (AE) design meetings
- Develop and publish agenda and meeting notes
- Follow-up of open issues
- Coordinate and attend special design meetings requested by the AE team
- Follow-up on open issues requested by the DCC and/or customers
- Attend meetings with DPSCS User Group Meetings
- Prepare meeting notes of user group meetings
- Participate in value engineering meetings
- Follow-up of open points from DCC and/or user group members
- Design Review Management
- Coordinate review of design documentation at milestones by all DCC team members
- Collect and organize comments from DCC team members
- Prepare comments to verify design conformance
- Attend all design review meetings
- Post meeting notes
- Follow-up on open issues related to design reviews
- Supervision of DCC management of RFI and QA/QC processes
- Coordinate and attend all weekly architecture/engineering (AE) design meetings

- Ability to manage customer contacts.
- Ability to manage budgeted dollars, time and scope for aspects/tasks of a project.
- Knowledge of the principles of personnel management, training and performance evaluation.
- You know the principles of project budgeting and project management.
- Knowledge of industry terminology, laws, practices, policies and regulations.
- Build an understanding of the contracting process with clients, associated partners and consultants under the supervision of the Director and/or ROL.
- Demonstrated interest in speaking at conferences, writing articles, serving on national committees.
- Executes other tasks and projects as assigned.
PLANNING:
- Demonstrates strong analytical skills to interpret research data for reports and to apply mathematical techniques in practical situations.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of planning principles and understanding of government policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of research methods and statistical principles.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current developments, current literature and sources of information related to criminal justice.
- Ability to independently execute and manage small to medium sized engineering projects.
