President Droupadi Murmu on two-day visit to Gujarat from Monday

A press release from the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday said President Droupadi Murmu would travel to Gujarat on a two-day trip starting Monday. This will be the Indian President’s first visit to Gujarat.

The statement read that President Murmu will begin her engagement with a visit to Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on Monday.

The statement also mentioned that “later in the day, she will inaugurate/lay the groundwork for various projects related to health, irrigation, water supply and port development at GMERS, Gandhinagar.”

She will attend a citizens’ reception in Gandhinagar to be held in her honor later in the evening.

On Oct. 4, the president will launch “herSTART” — a Gujarat University start-up platform for women entrepreneurs — laying the foundation for various projects related to education and tribal development at Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, the statement said .

herSTART is one of the flagship programs of the Gujarat University Startup and Entrepreneurship Council (GUSEC), established with the vision of empowering innovative ideas from women. It was established to empower women by empowering aspiring women entrepreneurs to realize their entrepreneurial endeavors.

The program is open to all women who have innovative ideas, prototypes or existing business ventures and want to take their endeavors to the next level. Shortlisted innovations can take advantage to further strengthen their ideas.

President Murmu greets the nation at Durga Puja

On Sunday, President Droupadi Murmu welcomed citizens at the Durga Puja, urging them to build a society where women are respected and where they can contribute equally to the nation-building process.

“On the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all fellow citizens living in India and abroad,” she said.

Maa Durga is Shakti Swarupa and this festival is an opportunity to show respect for women’s power, said the President.

She added that a society in which women’s empowerment is promoted at all levels in the truest sense of the word can be considered a modern, developed and just society.

“I wish that the spirit of unity and brotherhood in our society will be strengthened through the festival of Durga Puja. Let’s build a society where women are increasingly respected and able to contribute equally to the state-building process,” said President Murmu.
