‘Holiday Spectacular’ Fridays at The Shops

The Shops at Carlsbad hosts a free all-day “Holiday Spectacular” on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The day will include live music and dance performances from local schools and arts and crafts. The elves will be making animals and doing face painting all day. Santa’s reindeer and Frosty the Snowman will appear from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. From noon to 6 p.m. Mrs. Claus will be reading four classic stories. Sammy’s founder opens new restaurant

Toasted Gastrobrunch + Diner from Sami Ladecki, creator of Sami Woodfire Pizza and Toasted Gastrobrunch, has opened at 339 N. Cleveland St. The new location is closer to the beach’s walkway and replaces Carte Blanche Bistro & Bar. Toasted has expanded to include a full dinner menu, but will retain brunch favorites from Toasted Gastrobrunch (formerly in Carlsbad) like brisket hash and stuffed French toast.
