SHARPSVILLE, Pa. – Marie Jane Miodrag Rossi, 84, of Sharpsville, Pa, died peacefully on Wednesday September 14, 2022 surrounded by her children.

Marie was born on February 14, 1938 in Farrell, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Alexandria “Lenna” Viconovic Miodrag.

Marie graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1955 and graduated from Trumbull Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Warren in 1958. She worked for six years at Henry Ford Hospital in Michigan as an open heart surgical nurse and then at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. as a surgical nurse before returning home and starting her long career at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren began. At Trumbull Memorial Hospital, she worked as a midnight shift nurse in the ICU for 25 years and then as an emergency room nurse on the midnight shift for 30 years until she fell ill in 2019. Marie had an incredible work ethic and worked as a Registered Nurse for 61 years, working until the age of 81. She truly believed that if you love what you do, don’t work a day in your life.

Her 47-year-old husband, Ralph A. Rossi Sr., whom she married on October 17, 1964, died on June 14, 2011. Together they had three children of whom they were proud: a son, Ralph, and two daughters, Traci and Shari. She also had three grandchildren she couldn’t have loved more, Michael, Mark and Mason.

Marie’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Marie enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. She enjoyed being outside in the summer. Marie loved gardening. Every summer she planted beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She especially loved mowing grass and said it was peaceful. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends. She especially loved to bake cookies. She loved Christmas and it was always great to be at her house. She was an avid reader. Marie grew up on a farm and had a great love for animals.

Marie was a member of St. Bartholomew Church in Sharpsville. She was a member of the TMH School of Nursing Alumni Committee. She served as President of the Homeroom Mothers’ Association for several years when her children were young. She would raise funds for the Cancer Society and the Heart Association.

Marie is survived by their son Ralph A. (Tiffany) Rossi of West Middlesex, Pennsylvania; and two daughters, Traci (Jonathan) Multari of Hermitage, Pennsylvania and Shari (Brent) Sollberger of Cortland; and three grandchildren, Michael Rossi, Mark Rossi and Mason Sollberger.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

“Some people come into our lives and leave quickly. Some stay for a while and leave a mark on our hearts and we are never the same.”

Consultation hours will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Stephen J. Sherman Funeral Home, 2201 Highland Road, Hermitage, Pa.

A Mass of Christian Funeral officiated by Rev. Richard Allen EV will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Roman Catholic Church, Sharpsville, Pa. Friends are welcome to meet directly in the church.

The burial will take place at St. Rose Mausoleum Hermitage, Pa.
