LOCAL COLLABORATION TO DRIVE THE B.C. HYDROGEN ECONOMY


The BC Hydrogen Changemakers Consortium welcomes new members to drive the development of hydrogen hubs

VANCOUVER, BC, September 22, 2022 /CNW/ – The British Columbia (BC) Center for Innovation and Clean Energy (CICE) has approved the expansion of the BC Hydrogen Changemakers Consortium (BCHCC) announced in June 2022 to add three new members: BC Hydro and Power Authority (BC Hydro), Air Products Canada and Toyota Tsusho Canada.

The BCHCC aims to enable the development of hydrogen centers in BC by building strategic partnerships and leveraging BC’s clean energy resources to position the province as a leader in low-carbon hydrogen. The first fifteen organizations represent industry and government focused on cross-sector partnerships to accelerate hydrogen demand and infrastructure projects. The addition of the three new members will increase collaboration to advance BC’s low-carbon hydrogen economy.

“Success in creating a low-carbon hydrogen economy depends on how quickly the pace of investment in hydrogen demand and infrastructure projects is accelerated,” he says Yemi Adefulu, Deputy General Manager at CICE. “The growth of the consortium is an indication that BC remains well positioned to play a critical role in the global clean energy transition.”

In conjunction with BCHCC’s efforts, CICE will soon release a Metro Vancouver-focused BC Hydrogen Investment Plan that will encourage investment throughout BC’s hydrogen value chain and lay the groundwork for the creation of the province’s first hydrogen hub target.
