Liquid-Markets Unveils ÜberNIC™, an Ethernet Adapter Exclusively Based on Intel Agilex FPGAs

ZUG, Switzerland–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Liquid-Markets GmbH (“LMS”) today announced the launch of ÜberNIC™, a family of Intel Agilex FPGA-based, general-purpose, lossless, ultra-low latency Ethernet adapters. The ÜberNIC family will represent an innovative implementation of a fully hardware-based network stack with patented kernel bypass and PCI Express® (PCIe) transmission mechanism. Delivered exclusively on Intel Agilex FPGA devices, the ÜberNIC family of Ethernet adapters offers new standards in latency, throughput, capacity and performance consistency.

Products in the ÜberNIC family support configurable onboard storage, significant port density, and PCIe Gen 3, 4, and 5. In addition, select products in the ÜberNIC family support Compute Express Link (CXL). CXL, available in the upcoming 4th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, underscores ÜberNIC’s ability to deliver unprecedented performance. As a result, the ÜberNIC family offers a significant TCO and feature advantage over all other alternative products.

In today’s modern securities markets, low payload messaging volumes in excess of 1 Gbps to 3 Gbps are common. The ÜberNIC family handles these requirements with ease while delivering a full transceiver-to-transceiver I/O latency (across x86-64 user space) of just 548 nanoseconds. No commercially available Ethernet adapter/network stack solution offers less than 960 nanoseconds of latency for 64-byte UDP payloads at any throughput rate, let alone at rates of 2.5 Gbps or higher.

OverNIC delivers deterministic performance with a 1.58% difference between 95th Percentile I/O latency at throughput rates of 600 Mbps and 2.75 Gbps. In contrast, today’s typical solution shows a difference of 2,561% with a latency of over 20 microseconds at 800 Mbps and above. The typical solution starts dropping frames at 1.5 Gbps and at 2.75 Gbps 13% of frames are dropped. However, overNIC successfully handles 100% of frames under the same conditions.

“LMS is partnering with Intel and is excited to bring ÜberNIC to market to solve today’s most critical profitability, risk and regulatory challenges related to data transmission and reception. Combining LMS’ patented technology with Intel Agilex FPGAs and Intel CXL capabilities results in breakthrough performance,” said Seth Friedman, CEO of Liquid-Markets.

Jim Dworkin, vice president and general manager of the Cloud & Enterprise Acceleration Division in Intel’s Programmable Solutions Group said, “As market volatility explodes throughout the trading day, low latency, high throughput and consistent performance become even more important. We are pleased that ÜberNIC, powered by Intel Agilex FPGAs, is meeting the needs of today’s global exchanges. The combination of Intel Agilex devices and LMS technology raises the bar for high-performance Ethernet adapters for the financial services industry, and we are excited to work with LMS to develop these leading-edge solutions.”
