Tinubu said this while speaking at the APC presidential campaign in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State on Thursday.
The APC candidate, who is now Dike Di Urama l of Ebonyi, commended Governor Dave Omahi for his great efforts in uplifting the state.
Tinubu said: “I commend Governor Umahi for his transformational leadership and development projects, some of which I commissioned yesterday.
He remains a testament to what is possible in Nigeria.
On his plans for the Igbo as president, Tinubu said there would be no discrimination against them as he encouraged them when he was governor of Lagos State.
I believe in the entrepreneurial spirit of the Igbo. I have encouraged many Igbo businesses and investments in Lagos and I will do more even if I become president.
If elected, there will be no discrimination, Igbo interests will be protected. I will also encourage policies to help trade and support Southeast countries to reach their full potential.
I will meet the South East leaders in a heart to heart discussion on all the issues that are on their minds.
“If elected, I will address all issues and policies that hinder their trade and commerce. “I will work with businessmen and women and encourage them to make Southeast Taiwan Africa.”
He also promised to work towards achieving the 3Rs (Igbo Reintegration, Reconstruction and Reconstruction).
Speaking specifically on his plans for Ebonyi State, Tinubu said: “I will mechanize the solid minerals sector in Ebonyi and install the processing plant.
In collaboration with Ebonyi State Government, we will expand Ebonyi’s agricultural sector and make it one of the largest rice producing states in Africa.
At the rally held at the Abakaliki Township Stadium, APC Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima, Deputy National Chairman, South, Lawyer Emma Enokowu, Representative of the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, David Omahi, Governor of Ebonyi State and Chairman of Progressive Governors Association and Kebbi Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu.
Also present were Governors Hope Ozodima (Imo), Abubakar Badaro (Jigawa), Babagana Zolum (Borno) and Professor Ben Ayade (Cross River) as well as members of the National Working Committee of the party and members of the National Assembly.
Governor Umahi said AsiwajuTinubu believes in merit and competence and has demonstrated this in his record of service especially when he was governor of Lagos.
“Esiwajo knows the way, we must follow him. He has shown that he loves and trusts Igbo and our people.
He has been here since yesterday. He slept here in Abakaliki and ate our food. “Only a man who loves you will eat your food.”
For Governor Uzodimma, there is no more mourning for the Igbos as they look for the right man to take over President Muhammadu Buhari.
On his arrival in Abakaliki earlier on Wednesday, the APC presidential candidate inaugurated some of the projects established by Governor Umahi, including Camp David State and Bishop Nnaji Okoro dual carriageway.
And inside the EXCO chambers in Abakaliki, where the main traditional rulers in the state had gathered, the royal fathers conferred on Asiwaju the traditional title of Dike Di Orama 1 of Ebonyi meaning the warrior of Ebonyi.
Asiwajo and his entourage, which included former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimji Bankole and Chairman of the Higher Education Trust Fund, Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim Imam, were later entertained at a gala night where various cultural groups were entertained.
Both governors Bagudu and Badaru who also addressed the rally praised Asiwajo.
Governor Kebi described him as a kind-hearted and brilliant leader who treats all sections of Nigeria equally.
State Governor Jigawa Badaru, who called Asiwajo a father figure, described him as a natural leader who gave him a political platform that made him the governor of the state even when he did not know him personally.
