IGCF 2022 explores the role of government communication in crisis management, 4th Industrial Revolution


Sharjah: Two key discussions that highlight the essential role of strategic government communications in turning crises into opportunities and encourage youth to invest in technology-driven ventures to successfully capitalize on the myriad prospects presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). , will be at the 11th International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2022) which opens in less than two weeks at Expo Center Sharjah.

Titled “Economic Crises – Between Positive Containment and Negative Adaptation” and “Impact of Public Communications on New Projects”, these two main sessions at IGCF 2022 will take place on September 28-29 and will be led by an elite panel of speakers, including CEOs , communications specialists and government officials.

Transparency to win people’s trust and participation

In “Economic Crises – Between Positive Containment and Negative Adaptation,” moderated by Marwan Alhel, Moderator at Dubai Media Inc, panelists discuss Younis Haji Al Khoori, Secretary of State at the UAE Ministry of Finance; Malcolm Stevenson Forbes Jr., CEO, Forbes Media LLC; dr Ehab Abu Aish, Deputy Finance Minister for Treasury Affairs and Public Services, Egypt; and dr Shashi Tharoor, former UN diplomat, author and public intellectual, will discuss how transparent and timely communication from governments raises people’s awareness and motivates them to engage together in implementing solutions developed by their governments in times of crisis .

The distinguished speakers will also highlight the most appropriate government approaches to gain public confidence in a rapidly changing social and economic landscape and the importance of understanding society’s perspectives and needs during crisis management. They will also highlight how government communications can prepare people for a foreseeable crisis and reduce their anxiety through the use of expert crisis management strategies.

In the second main session, “Implications of public communication for new projects”, Mohamed Hilal Al Hazami, CEO of the Mohamed Hilal Group; Muhammad Yunus, social entrepreneur; and Hazza Ibrahim Almansoori, media consultant and entrepreneurship expert, will highlight how communication can successfully attract investors to support financial startups and new technologies.

Moderated by Mohammed Al Raeesi, Media Specialist at Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, the session will also discuss the fundamentals of building economic initiatives able to take advantage of 4IR and automation concepts and applications to overcome existing deadlocks and stagnation . In addition, the session will discuss the impact of the deployment of 5G technologies in communications, satellite connectivity, internet and digital currencies on emerging projects and will highlight their role in investments in the creative industries and technology sectors.

The IGCF is organized by the International Government Communication Center (IGCC) – an initiative of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) – and this year’s motto is “Challenges and Solutions”.

The packed program of the two-day forum includes 7 main discussion sessions, 10 inspirational speeches, 6 workshops, 13 interactive platforms and 40 side activities. The agenda will be led by 160 senior officials, thought leaders and experts who will highlight the role of government communications in addressing local and global governance challenges, as well as social and economic crises, while highlighting the opportunities that arise.
