Howard University Partners with Fiserv and humble ventures to Launch GrowHU Accelerator for HBCU-Affiliated Entrepreneurs


Howard University, In a relationship with Fisherv, Inc. and humble venturesannounces that applications are open for the first cohort of GrowHU program Howard’s growth-focused accelerator for entrepreneurs.

The GrowHU Accelerator aims to bring Howard University and the broader HBCU community together through a growth-focused accelerator for diverse founders scaling their businesses. Open to Howard University and other HBCU-affiliated entrepreneurs, the program is designed to help companies reach the next level of growth by providing sales and marketing support. To be considered, companies must have an established, repeatable sales process and generate either $10,000 in monthly recurring revenue or nearly $1 million in lifetime sales.

“Based on the success of our PitchHU incubator program, we are excited to launch the GrowHU Accelerator program to support diverse entrepreneurs and their businesses by growing their entrepreneurial talent within Howard University’s larger ecosystem, while also supporting the larger HBCU support the network,” said Howard University President Wayne AI Frederick, MD, MBA. “We are grateful to Frank Bisignano and the Fiserv team for our continued partnership and company’s investment in the Howard community, and to Ajit Verghese and the Humble Ventures team for their impactful programming.”

The continued investment by Fiserv, a global leader in payments and financial services technology solutions, is part of the company’s broader commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion, including through empowering Black and minority-owned businesses and small, diverse businesses. As part of the Accelerator, Fiserv will provide hands-on support through employee-led training for the cohort, sharing hands-on expertise on payments, financial technology, customer engagement and cybersecurity.

Applications for GrowHU Accelerator will be accepted until October 7, 2022.

Applications will be batch screened against GrowHU’s Accelerator requirements. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a 10-week free virtual cohort, featuring both asynchronous and synchronous instruction from experts from Howard University, Fiserv and Humble Ventures.

To conclude the program, the GrowHU Accelerator will host a Public Demo Day on December 9th to bring together distributors, investors and other interested parties to share the progress of the cohort participants and learn how the GrowHU Accelerator can invest in their continued success.
