The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation [BEDC] prepares for Global Entrepreneurship Week 2022 [GEW] Celebrations that take place in November.
A spokesman said: “Gew was launched in 2008 and will be celebrated around the world from November 14th to 20th. It has grown to over 170 host countries, 50,000 partner organizations with millions of planned activities worldwide. Bermuda has participated in GEW from the start and was recognized at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress for hosting the most events per capita in the world – and this year there will be plenty to get involved in.
“The Entrepreneurship Celebration begins on Friday, October 28 with the Tech Week Event titled Power Up with Web 3.0 – Leveraging Web 3.0 to Step Up Your Entrepreneurial Game. The panel discussion, featuring Stephanie Smellie, Web 3.0 Advisor & Consultant, Sean Stapley, Senior Partner & Co-Founder at Penrose, and Karee Luna, Founder of Hai Tydes What the NFT?, will focus on how entrepreneurs can leverage this technology in their businesses and learn to position yourself for the future!
“BEDC continues its partnership with the Driven Society to bring InspireCon to Bermuda’s entrepreneurs. Join us on Thursday, November 3rd for a day of talent including Arianna Rose, Brandon Pankey, Soleil Laurent and Songe LaRon. Founded in Bermuda in 2019, InspireCon is an international event series focused on entertainment and enrichment where ideas are born, cultivated and released to impact change in our communities.
“On Friday, November 4th, entrepreneurs are invited to the Festival of Entrepreneurship. This year we celebrate the resilience of Bermuda’s small business owners and entrepreneurs. Celebrating Resilience will be a gathering of like-minded entrepreneurs and community leaders focused on the continued growth and support of Bermuda’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
“The BEDC Business Awards will take place on Saturday 12th November; to celebrate the achievements, growth and resilience of Bermuda entrepreneurs. This event showcases local businesses that have been nominated by the public for their success over the past year.
“The Rocket Pitch Competition is always an exciting time with entrepreneurs from six categories this year including Pitch Pink, Pitch Town, Pitch Tech, Pitch Green, Youth Pitch and Pitch Food & Beverage competing to see whose idea will prevail and take home the $5,000 cash prize and a starter package of services to help them launch their business. Applications for the competition will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, October 23. So don’t miss the chance to raise seed capital for your business.
“On Wednesday, November 16, young entrepreneurs are invited to join us as we bring together Bermuda’s youngest CEOs for an evening of networking, inspiration and encouragement. The aim of this event is to bring together Bermuda’s young entrepreneurs, aspiring CEOs and youth interested in entrepreneurship.
“On Thursday, November 17th, BEDC will host a special men-only event for the first time. The Next Man Up event will be a space for men in entrepreneurship to come together, learn and grow as small business owners and CEOs. This event includes canapés, drinks, networking and a panel discussion on topics such as work-life balance, health & wellness and more!
“This year BEDC presents Inspi[Her], the weekend retreat for women entrepreneurs 2022 not to be missed! The Women’s Entrepreneurship Weekend Retreat, November 18-20, is an event that brings women together to celebrate entrepreneurship, empowerment and connection. The conference includes international and local speakers. Women are invited to participate in a dynamic event that will include networking opportunities, a day-long conference, vision board workshops, pampering and wellness sessions and more.
“Finally, Cyber Monday Bermuda is an online initiative aimed at encouraging residents to shop online locally and supporting the development of local e-commerce businesses in Bermuda. BEDC invites Bermuda to shop online and vote #chooseBermuda on November 28th for Cyber Monday 2022.”
