Conservatives blast Biden for claiming Republicans ‘will crash the economy’ if they win midterms

Conservatives blasted President Biden on Friday for warning that Republicans will “crash the economy” next year if the GOP gains control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.

Several prominent conservative Twitter users accused the president and Democrats of already doing this to the country’s economy, claiming they were trying to shift the blame.

Biden backed up his claims while noting the Treasury Department’s recent report showing that the federal deficit fell by $1.4 trillion over the last year.

Biden touted the milestone as a sign of his administration’s economic success and warned that Republicans will reverse it if they prevail.

With several of his economic advisers behind him, President Biden said, “The Republican leadership in Congress has made it clear: They will crash the economy next year by threatening the full confidence and creditworthiness of the United States for the first time in our history. Default the United States unless we give in to their demands to cut Social Security and Medicaid.”

Conservatives, however, did not buy such claims.

Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, fired back, saying Biden and his Democrats have already crashed the economy. “He and other Ds have already done that,” the senator tweeted.

Rep. Kevin Hern, R-Okla., devastated Biden, tweeting, “You already did that all by yourself @POTUS.”

Conservative commentator Jason Howerton wrote, “If I were advising Democrats, I would tell them to be a little less obvious about this shameless plan to blame Republicans for how bad next year is going to get.”

The Spectator editor Stephen L. Miller claimed that Biden wanted to pre-emptively shift the blame for an impending recession. He tweeted, “Biden knows a full blown recession is coming next year. This is him trying to avoid guilt and everyone knows it.”
