The Computer Science Faculty of Saroop Rani Government College for Women introduced Portable Pathshala, which organized a book donation camp for the benefit of students. Headmaster Dr. Daljit Kaur opened the event. She emphasized recycling and sharing books from seniors to juniors to maximize their utility. She emphasized that this initiative should also be extended to other departments. The intention behind this was to motivate students to donate books to others. The use of used books should inspire empathy and protect the environment. Around 100 books were distributed to students. TNS
World Ozone Day celebrated
Amritsar: SR Government College for Women, Amritsar, celebrated World Ozone Day on September 16 by organizing a series of activities to spread environmental awareness. A rally was conducted by the NSS volunteers, slogan writing and poster making competitions were also hosted by the Departments of Chemistry and Geography. A seminar was organized by the Eco Club in cooperation with the NGO Voice of Amritsar. Voice of Amritsar President Neeta Mehra, Jasmeet Nayyar, Former Principal, SR College and Ex DPI honored the occasion as the main guests. They talked about our need to save the environment because our lives depend on it. Power Point presentations in this context were presented by the students of the departments of geography and chemistry. This was followed by the NGO distributing eco-friendly bags as a sign to save our mother earth from plastic abuse.
Swimming competitions at GNDU
Interdepartmental swimming competitions (boys/girls) were organized by GNDU as part of the Government of India’s Fit India Program. dr Amandeep Singh, teacher in charge of GNDU Campus Sports, said that different departments participated in these competitions. The Interdivisional Swimming Winners were: Rohan from Informatik in 50m Freestyle (Men), Agam Mahajan from Laws in 100m Freestyle (Men), Karanbir Mehta from University Business School in 200m Freestyle (Men) . Among the women, the winners, Aabha Deshpande from the GNDU MYAS Department of Sports Science did very well, winning medals at various events.
Banking sector course begins
The Postgraduate Department of Commerce and Business Administration of Khalsa College, Amritsar, in cooperation with Bajaj Finserv Ltd. Launched the “Banking, Finance and Insurance Sector Certificate Program (CPBFI)”. This program was part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Khalsa College Amritsar and Bajaj Finserv Ltd. to provide students with practical training and essential skills to provide them with employment opportunities in the banking, finance and insurance sectors. The program was run under the supervision of Dr. Mehal Singh (Principal and Program Chair) and Dr. AK Kahlon (Dean and Program Director) planned and implemented. dr Ajay Sehgal (Assistant Professor, Commercial Department and Program Coordinator) introduced the main guest Raja Dcruz, Bajaj representatives and the management team. dr Megha (Assistant Professor, Commerce Department & Program Assistant) was delegated to run the CPBFI program. Raja Dcruz explained the benefits of the program for the students. More than 55 students from the Department of Commerce took part in the program.
The school marks World Ozone Day
Special events and activities have been organized at Shri Ram Ashram School to promote the benefits of the ozone layer and make students aware of the reasons for its depletion. The teachers enlightened the students on the history of World Ozone Day. Pupils in grades VII and VIII took part in a poster competition. Through their posters, they spread the message that the ozone layer not only protects humans, but also birds, animals and other creatures on earth from the harmful ultraviolet rays. In the end, everyone committed themselves to adopting environmentally friendly ways in our everyday lives and to doing our part to protect the ozone layer by using our resources consciously.
