Meraz Ahmed, who lives in Barguna, Barishal, is a freelance event organizer. He was actively looking for a second job until he came across Income on Facebook.

Inkam is an exclusive distribution company for digital products and services that has marketed promising digital products (educational videos, skill development courses, health services, etc.). This platform allows its users to distribute those products for a sales commission.

“Inkam’s terms and policies are completely understandable and consistent. So I signed up the same day and became an Inkam agent,” Maraz said.

At Inkam, any representative/affiliate who receives commission for marketing the products of another person or company is known as a “Digital Uddokta” (Digital Entrepreneur).

All we have to do is get new customers for the service [of different companies] They sell on this platform. For example, if I am assigned to sell digital course materials, I will look around for potential customers. “Once they agree to buy the course, I send them my custom link where they can buy,” explained Maraz, adding, “With every purchase I make, I get a 10-15 percent commission in my account.” I receive.

Meraz now earns 2000-2500 TK every week. He also leads the Digital Uddokta Barishal team.

As the world goes digital, Bangladesh’s informal economy is growing phenomenally. Inkam saw an opportunity to merge the two to create a service that would benefit everyone in the ecosystem.

Inkam is open for business to any individual (who can work as an agent) or platform (who can work as an associate or partner). For example, Go Global is an international visa acceptance and processing platform. They also provide career counseling to students going abroad for higher education.

Imtiaz Bin Habib, Assistant Director of Business Development at Go Global explained how their sales have increased since becoming affiliated with Inkam.

“Career consulting is our most popular service. Previously, we only marketed it through Facebook and Google ads. These ads definitely gave us significant reach, but not even 1% of that reach made it to our actual customer list. They didn’t. On the other hand, our reach through Inkam agents is almost 100% efficient and gives us good business.”

If Income continues to grow, Imtiaz plans to invest a major portion of his company’s marketing expenses in Income in the coming years.

A gap in the digital infrastructure

Research by Statistica.com shows that ad spending in Bangladesh’s digital advertising market will reach $305 million this year. Companies spend more than 1000 crores annually on digital marketing on Facebook and Google alone to reach their target audience.

“All this money is our money, our people’s money. It’s sad how we have to give it to the global tech giants for marketing. Acknowledging that, we wanted to build a platform that made effective digital advertising possible.” Firouzuddin Ahmed, executive director of Income, said: “Circulate money within the country.”

Additionally, as the demand for digital products increases and the population shifts online, there is no digital distribution infrastructure for digital products.

“We have plenty of platforms to resell physical products (Daraaz, Amazon, eBay, etc.), but the digital distribution market is still untapped,” Feroz explained.

Khalid Hussain, co-founder of Inkam said, “Through Inkam, we are not only accelerating access to digital products among the masses, but also creating income opportunities for people with limited or no income.
