When people think of fall, romance novels don’t usually spring to mind. However, fall is the perfect time to dive into some new love book series.
Personally, I’m a romance novel reader regardless of the season. Still, I can appreciate people who have a specific type of story that they read at specific times of the year. However, it can be a little tricky for Romance readers.
While romance is known for being light and fluffy, the genre as a whole has a much broader scope. Honestly, there is a plethora of love books that aren’t light and fluffy, but much darker and gloomy. However, it all depends on what you are looking for.
Fall doesn’t “officially” start until September 22nd, but it’s never too early to start reading or getting involved with a new love book series.
These romantic book series are perfect if you’re looking for some fall reading.
Actually, at the top of the list is a historical love series and that is Joanna Shupes The Knickerbocker Club Series. This is a Gilded Age historical romance that follows three titans of the industry as they each have their own romances. Although the series technically only has 3 books, there is a novella that kickstarts the entire series with the title tycoon.
What makes this series unique is that it’s set in New York City. There are tons of different tropes too, including a marriage of convenience, forced closeness, and a second chance romance. Of all the historical romance novels I’ve read so far, this one really calls out for fall and is the perfect leisurely read for the fall season.
Away from historical romance, Tasha L. Harrison’s next series is, and it is Small Town Romance series. These books each follow a different Malone sister as they each get their chance at love. The first book is an age gap story between a woman going through a divorce and trying to open her own business who falls in love with her business class teacher. The second book is a second chance romance between two chefs with the secret baby trope actually well done.
The third book is titled With their own two hands and it’s a romance between two artists who both fight but end up coming together. Honestly speaking, this series has such an autumnal and magical atmosphere and contains hoodoo. Additionally, the series isn’t afraid to tackle tough issues like divorce, mental health especially bipolar disorder, treatment, and sexism while telling a beautiful story.
Another series perfect for fall is this Mead glitches Series by Kimberly Lemming. This is a fantasy romance series that follows mythical creatures and their romances with human women. Honestly these books are fast paced, short and super fun so I don’t want to give much away but with titles like This time I got drunk and saved a demon and This time I was drunk and I put a love potion on a werewolfI don’t have to do much convincing.
With the first three series out of the way, I’ve saved the two dark romance series for last, as fall is usually the time when people decide to get their hands on dark romance book series take. The first is ST Abby’s Mindf**k series. This is a series that is a romance between a female serial killer and the FBI agent tasked with finding and bringing her down. This book is so intense and dark because she’s a murderess, so obviously there’s murder, torture, and all sorts of dark themes.
Despite this, this series has such a huge following and the books are like popcorn readings. You’ll want to pick up the next one right after the previous one. Unfortunately, that author passed away, so these are the only books we’ll get within the series. Anyway, this is great if you’re in the mood for something extremely dark.
The last book series to make the cut is Christina C Jones’ Predators MC Series. This is the CCJ motorcycle club series that follows a black love affair between a newcomer and the President of the MC. This series is dark and somber, but still sexy. It’s also another one with heavier themes like rape, sexual assault and violence. As long as you can handle it, this is unbeatable reading once you get started.
Overall, there really is no wrong answer when it comes to love book series to read this fall. It’s really up to you and what you feel like doing. Hopefully these series will give you an idea though or be a good starting point for you.
