2-day national workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship, Innovations and Startups’ begins at S.P. College

Srinagar, November 15 (KNS): A two-day national workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship, Innovations and Start-ups’ began at SP College on Tuesday.

Commissioner/Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of J&K, Mr. Saurabh Bhagat, IAS, inaugurated the workshop organized by the College’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIED) in collaboration with the JK Science Innovation and Technology Council (JKST&IC) . .

In his presidential address, Mr. Bhagat said that the present tie-up between CIED and JKST&IC can help in instilling passion for entrepreneurship and innovation among aspiring innovators and help them create their own startups in the future.

He also highlighted various schemes and initiatives of JKST&IC aimed at boosting innovations in the Union Territory. Mr. Bhagat also praised CIED for collaborating with JKSTIC in organizing the event.

Prof. (Dr.) Khurshid Khan, principal of the college, chief sponsor of the workshop, delivered the welcome address and encouraged the student community to understand that innovation is the need of the day. He thanked Mr. Saurabh Bhagat for his cooperation in the two day workshop. Prof. Khan also thanked other officials including Dr Nasir Ahmad Shah, Additional Director JKST&IC and his team for promoting collaboration between JKST&IC and SP College.

On this occasion, SP College signed an MoU with JKST&IC to promote innovations and startups with appropriate interventions and through awareness raising among aspiring innovators.

Dr. Nasir Shah also shared the plan and highlighted the objectives of the two-day event, which includes an “Idea Competition” that encourages aspiring innovators to pitch their ideas for seed funding by JKST&IC, after evaluation by provide a committee for them. Further development as a prototype

Dr. Shabana Aslam, Convener CIED and Convener of Workshop said that the two-day event was organized under the supervision of the Principal of the College and with the active support of JKST&IC.

Dr. Shabana said that the event has been very well received by aspiring innovators, with more than 200 participants from different walks of life and more than 60 innovators who have presented their innovative ideas for evaluation and seed funding.

Professor Magri Ejaz Ahmed gave a vote of thanks in the opening session, which was held in the presence of senior officers and faculty members of various departments of the college.

Prof. Anil K. Gupta, renowned innovator, Padma Shri and founder of Bee Network, delivered the keynote address. He encouraged the students to choose innovations as a career path with full passion.

Dr. MA Bhat, Additional Director, S&T Department and Mr. Bilal Ahmed, Joint Director, JKST&IC were also present on the occasion. (KNS)
